Why Extracurricular Activities are Important in School?

Extracurricular-Activities

School is a wonderful part of our lives where we learn, meet new friends, laugh, play and build our careers. However, sometimes it is seen that children pay less attention to Extracurricular Activities as a result of the stress of exams. Parents ask their kids to study so they can get through the exam without really paying attention to it. Therefore, some kids are barely or never active.

Hence, what are Extracurricular Activities? and how important are they in the lives of children? Parents should be aware of this.

Extracurricular Activities refer to a variety of activities planned outside of the regular school day, curriculum or course that are designed to meet students’ interests. Students cannot become intelligent simply by studying. Some extracurricular activities are important for their overall development.

Here are five reasons why extracurricular activities are important.

1.Helps maintain a balance between academic and social life:

A perfect balance is undoubtedly important for a student. It’s nearly impossible for students to study for eight hours and memorize every sentence in their textbooks. Exposure is also important for them to catch up on non-learning aspects. Extracurricular Activities assist students in properly balancing all parts of their education, from developing an interest in music or art and craft to learning about sports through the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and other competitions.

2. Develop social skills:

Communication is an important asset in students’ lives because it allows them to exercise their right to free speech in the proper manner! Participating in after-school activities is the best way to improve your communication skills and learn more about yourself.

3. Path for a career opportunity:

“If you develop a passion for learning, you will never cease to grow.” Exactly! Participating in a variety of hobbies that interest you, such as sports or yoga, can help you unlock the gates to new career opportunities in the future.

4. Build unity and teamwork:

Remember, “We are only as strong as we are united.” The best approach to cultivating a positive attitude, learning about teamwork and problem-solving techniques and engaging critical thinking in a wider context is, in fact, through non-academic courses. Sports are the ideal medium for introducing all these qualities.

5. Achieves higher academic results:

Both academic and extracurricular learning are crucial since they should be balanced and engaging for the best exam grades. Surprisingly, after-school extracurricular activities are quite helpful in ensuring and shaping children’s positive attitudes. Similar to physical health, mental health contributes to improved focus and memory, which improves exam performance.
